Christmas break is here!!

Finally Christmas is here! It was about time cuz I felt like this first semester was never going to end...Not only is there no school, no homework, and no stress whatsoever but there is amazing food and awesome time with family and friends. I don't know where you might be going this Christmas, but I am going to enjoy the nice hot beach in Merida and Cancun. It's going to be so awesome!
Besides all the fun and awesome food we must also remember that Christmas represents the Birth of Christ. It's a time to sit down and remember that 2000 years ago, a child was born. That child changed the entire world in a way we cannot even imagine.
Christmas is a time to celebrate and reflect on what we have done this past year. So on this holiday, sit down and pause for minute to think about this past year. Think on what you want to do for the next year and think on what you want to change of yourself so you can be a better person.

Chicharito update

So on Sunday or Saturday, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez got injured during the first minutes of the game. After the game Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed his injury as tear of ankle ligaments which will unfortunately keep him off the field for about a month. Now let's hope he recovers well and fast.

Stupid electronic devices

So a couple days ago my Zune decided to not work unless it was plugged in and now I can't listen to all my music which isn't that bad. The bad part is that I can't get it to work so I can transfer all my music to my computer so I can put it in another device. Why after 3 years of the device taking some pretty hard smacking and going thru some other hardships it just decides to kick the bucket??!! Come on! I really hope I can get it to transfer the music or try to get a new battery(if that's the problem) soon cuz I seriously need my music...
If anyone has a zune or ipod for sale tell me please.

Turkey time!!

Well it's just about time for some turkey, pumpkin pie, and a lot of other delicious foods and I seriously hope my family does something for Thanksgiving. I'm saying this cuz here in Mexico well we don't really celebrate thanksgiving since its mostly an American holiday. But in the time I lived in the States I really loved such day. Awesome time with friends and well the food was just amazing. So for the people that know me and have almost nothing to do during Thanksgiving just give me a call and maybe we can plan something and get together to have a good time and eat some incredibly good food.

Oaxacan crazy weather

It is November already and as everyone knows it is fall...or at least that's what its supposed to be right?
But for some reason Oaxaca has some pretty messed up weather. Two weeks ago it was cold here and I mean pretty cold and also it was either kinda sunny or really cloudy...a week later...it has been the complete opposite; so hot and really sunny. I mean really hot if we take into account the fact that its fall not summer. Now today its totally different from the last two. It is super windy, cloudy, cool, and it looks like its going to rain which is strange since rain season was over like a month ago so. But oh well this is Oaxaca so in case you wanna come visit I'd reccomend you bring all-season clothing and some sunscreen(sun rays hit pretty hard here).

It's Friday Friday Friday!!

ALL THE CHAMPIONS OF EACH SEASON BATTLING OUT!! SO AWESOME!
The first performance has the FridaY FridaY FridaY!! song so I just thought it would be funny.
The 2nd performance is great...Time for bed but always after partying!!! That backwards jump and then slamming into the floor wow that had to take a lot of skill or hurt!
Then the famous Jabbawockeez with a really cool performance. Love the little kid at the end.

Extreme soccer juggler

This guy is pretty good at juggling the ball.

What was I thinking?

This last weekend I went to a camp up in the mountains in a place called "La Cumbre Ixtepeji" and just a word of advice; do not go there at this time of the year. It was so cold!! When you don't feel your fingers and toes no matter how many gloves, socks(or whatever you prefer to use) you put then you know its really cold. The first night I got there I was like "oh its not that cold.....10 minutes later....holy crap! why did I come here in the first place?!?! The second day the sun decided to take a break so it didn't show up. So that day was so foggy and rainy that the cold chilled you right to the bone. Fortunately, the last day guess what? When I woke up I was like "dang it, its going to be cold...again.." but then I saw the beautiful sight; sunshine coming through the tree tops and smiling at me saying, here you go happy now? I gotta say I was ecstatic since the last two days had been a little bite of what real cold is and of which I don't even want to try..ever... So that last day was alright, but then the sun decided that that was enough sunshine for the day and it started to get cold really fast. Luckily, by then I was getting ready to go back to my "civilization" and especially my warm, cozy room.
So next time you have in mind a camp, hike, or anything to do with the wilderness and you don't like cold weather too much, DON'T GO!...(unless you really want to suffer) but what can I say I mean if you do go it will be at your own risk.

Best movie I have seen in 2011. Let's hope they make a sequel. That would be pretty awesome.

Hard time for Milan player Genaro Gattuso

Unfortunately for Milan, Gattuso has been diagnosed with brain paralysis after crashing into teammate Alessandro Nesta during the match vs. Lazio last week. He is one of my favorite defensive players. Fearless and always playing hard and going for every single ball. I hope that he gets better soon. He says that he can't see with his left eye so he's going to contact a surgeon in the US to treat him and hopefully make a fast recovery. Let us hope that Genaro keeps showing the world what he is capable of and why he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

18th birthday Pt.2

To contrast the last post, when one turns eighteen one starts going a little crazy about what one will be able to do now that he is a legal adult.  I mean one is in college; no parents, no restrictions, no limits of any kind....the first thing you want to do is obey rules right? what? rules? forget rules!!! let's enjoy freedom!! haha...can't wait till that day comes! although I still don't know what I want to do to celebrate that....any ideas? Anyways going back to the main theme when one turns eighteen one thinks of every possible way to break the rules that restrained him right? now one can do pretty much anything but there is a catch to it...if you go way over the line then there might be no return from that so we need to be careful and balance out between the fun and the consequences our actions may have...
If you have a comment concerning this feel free to post...

18th birthday Pt.1

I've been wondering if when we turn 18 years old, do we really act like one? I mean isn't eighteen the transition between being a teenager and being an adult? Unfortunately for us teenagers this does not apply most of the time. I have seen 18 year olds that act as if they were 12 so where's the maturity? Anyone have opinions about this? You don't have to be close to turning 18 to answer this, in fact it might be easier for you to compare yourself to an eighteenth year old you might know.

Smart...donkey

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for ...hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from God.

Gun Control?

I found this on one of my Facebook friends' wall and I just think its hilarious and sometimes even true...Comment just to let me what you think

Quest Crew vs. JabbaWockeeZ

My favorite part is from 1:07-1:46.. It's hilarious...Also 4:03-4:15

Cello version of Welcome to the Jungle

Again this duet called 2cellos, this time playing this song by Guns N' Roses.
Kinda funny how much they move when playing.

Cello version of Smooth Criminal

I had no idea you could play in a crazy way on a cello until I saw what this two guys could...It seems as if they were playing the guitar, but much classically(if that's a word).

Real Madrid vs. Ajax

Just a quick, late, update on today's Champions League match of Real Madrid vs. Ajax...
With a lethal counterattack led by the great Cristiano Ronaldo, R. Madrid is winning 1-0 with 35 minutes of the first half already.
The starting squads are the following:

For Real Madrid
1. Casillas, 2. Carvalho, 4. Ramos, 17. Arbeola, 19. Varane, 6. Khedira, 10. Özil, 14. X. Alonso, 7. Cristiano Ronaldo, 8. Kaká, 9. Benzema.
For Ajax
1. Vermeer, 2. V. der Wiel, 3. Alderweireld, 4. Vertonghen, 5. Anita, 8. C. Eriksen, 10. D. Jong, 16. Janssen, 7. Sulejmani, 9. Sigthórsson, 21. Boerrigter.

Chicharito injured...again

Well, this is definitely not Chicharito's best season...this time he just got injured during Saturday's game vs. Stoke City. Consequently, he won't play in today's match vs. FC Basel, which is being played right now and Man. Utd. is ahead 2-0

SICK DANCING SKILLS!

This guy is sick!! It seems very computerized, but it is completely real..He's gotta be really good since his movement matches all the beats of the song.

New Facebook Interface

So I've reading a lot of comments criticizing the new FB interface and I'm wondering why people complain so much about it...its not like they can come up with something better. People are never going to be content with how FB looks like because everyone has different opinions about it. Personally, I think the new interface has become very practical. Now I don't have to go to switch between pages to see the news feed because its all within one page and the most recent side bar is very easy to read and it updates every second so it's a lot faster than before. The chat could use a little more tweaks, but it is pretty easy to use. The only thing I don't like is the way the inbox messages are linked to the chat conversations; now that is a thing they need to change cuz it gets sometimes annoying when you're chatting and if you go online it sends an inbox message so you notice that someone is talking to you.

Chicharito's injury update

After this criminal, reckless slide tackle from Ashley Cole to Javier Hernandez during last week's game between Chelsea and Manchester United which could have fractured Hernandez's ankle (fortunately it was only a bad bruise), he is given the green light for Saturday's match. Nevertheless, sir Alex Ferguson says that he will most likely be ready for Tuesday's match instead of Saturday's. So best of luck to Chicharito and for a quick recovery.
Chicharito back in shape(in Spanish)

Planet of the Apes: (RE)EVOLUTION

I watched this movie a week ago and I really enjoyed it. Not only because of smart apes going into an unstoppable rampage and massive gorillas owning the police force(which was fun to watch) but because of its significance. I just read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and it has a strong resemblance to the movie's theme. The thing that stood out to me the most was the desire to discover a cure to the human diseases, but then turning into a complete disaster. Also the desire to control nature which in the movie was Caesar, but then turning against his own creator and becoming more powerful through what he learned. In Frankenstein, the parallelism is the same. The doctor wants to create a creature that later on becomes his own enemy and kills everyone he loved. In Planet of the Apes, the doctor wants to find the cure but then his masterpiece becomes what he was meant to be; a free living creature that knows almost no boundaries becoming a powerful being that has a great intellect and great physical strength.
So the final conclusion is that man cannot control what he isn't meant to control. Everything beyond man's understanding is supposed to stay unchanged.

Real Madrid's new uniform color

Starting squad posing for the team photo
Real Madrid players celebrating Di Maria's goal vs. D. Zagreb
In yesterday's game vs. Dinamo Zagreb, Real Madrid wore the red uniform for the first time in a long time. I loved it! It adds a nice touch and changes the image of the players highlighting them more.

Miss Universe 2011

Did anyone see the Miss Universe thing last night? I did...but not because I wanted but because my mom and my sisters were watching it...plus I gotta say there were many pretty girls...
And just for anyone who doesn't know about it...The girl from Angola won but I think I would have chosen the one from Ukraine over her. The prettiest one by far...
Some of the girls said very interesting stuff...the one from the Phillipines said that she would only marry a man that believed in God...The girl from Angola was asked that if she could what would she change of her physical appearance? She said she was happy of how God had created her and she wouldn't change anything.

15 minute soccer workout

Yesterday I had soccer practice and I don't know if the coach was still frustrated from the game he lost last Saturday so he made us run for 15 minutes non-stop. This workout also included sprinting, jumping, gazelle jumps, ball control, and some other stuff which by the 10th minute we were exhausted. When we finished my chest hurt and that had been only a fourth of the whole practice which lasted for about 2 hours. So I love soccer except when the coach sets up this kind of exercises then I'm like ''what the heck am I doing here when I can be sitting in my couch watching TV!!''
oh well thats how life is...the things that one loves sometimes aren't always the most pleasant or involve small sacrifices...

A new motto

From now on my new motto will be ''Just Do It''. As everyone knows it is inspired by Nike. This phrase speaks for itself. Why wait or why hesitate to do something? If you want to do it just do it...no hay nada que perder..

Title change

I decided to change my blog's title. My passion for football(American translation:soccer) is something that will be a much better topic and theme of which I can write almost about anything. Criticize a team, a player or highlight a player's ability and success as well as a team's.

Joke of the day

If Teachers were like this, what would become of us?
Three high school professors were driving down the highway at a very slow speed. A policeman pulled them over and explained that driving so slowly on the highway could be hazardous. The driver pointed out the sign that read "20." He explained that he was going 20 mph because of the sign. The policeman pointed out that the sign indicated they were driving on Highway 20.
Somewhat embarrassed the professor apologized and promised to be more observant.
As the policeman turn to walk back to his car, he noticed the other two professors looking pale and scared to death! He asks the driver, "What's wrong with them?"
He replied, "We just turned off Highway 105."

A typical day in Oaxaca Part#1

This next post its meant to get people's attention and make them aware of the reality so that we can together make a difference so that this does not happen. It is not meant to offend anyone in any way. I'm just being honest about my own experience and opinions.
Since I arrived to Oaxaca I noticed that most people drive in a reckless manner. It seems as if they're either in a hurry all the time or they just want to race each other as in “I bet I can die before you, sucker.” Seriously, Oaxaca is the only city I have seen in which it's more likely to get hit by a car than tripping down the stairs of your home! Do they not care about other people's lives? Or more importantly, their own life? This does not exclude the motorcycle drivers and even the pedestrians. I have seen at least two motorcycle accidents and they are not pretty. I mean a guy colliding into the side of a car, getting thrown forward , and then crashing onto the pavement just to have a shattered leg, five broken ribs, and who knows what else, did not just mysteriously happen because he thought about stopping and making sure there were not any cars coming down the main street. Now pedestrians. These fellows are supposed to look in all directions so that no moving cars are located in the premises before crossing a street, not crossing a street while the stampede of cars has the green light! I, myself,  have gotten pretty close from getting run over by a car going in the wrong direction in a one way street. If it hadn't been that there were three big guys in the car I would have yelled at the driver to get some glasses because he did not see the sign saying 'One Way'.
So if you ever visit Oaxaca be careful when you cross the streets and just pray that you won't get run over by a speeding public transport vehicle.

Once upon a time...

...this kid was enjoying a nice day in the library talking with two friends when suddenly he remembers that he has to get back to his house before 4PM to be ready for soccer practice at 4:15. It was 3:30. So he had to leave ASAP or his father would take off to the practice without him. He leaves the school and luckily a kind gentleman offers him a ride to the VW so 1. He saved $5.50 2. He made it in half the time it would take on a bus. So thinking that he was still on time, he gets home and guess what?? His father left him. Well so by this time its 4:15 already so he changes into his soccer clothes and has no other option but to take his bike...Not the best idea. Reason#1. The chances for rain are pretty high. Reason#2. The stupid road is as dusty as heck!!
So you can figure out what happens next...He gets there blah blah blah....around 15 minutes later he gets to the soccer field and gets to run 3 laps on the whole field for being late....everything else is just gibberish and well by the time he gets home around 5:50 PM, he's freaking hungry, tired, and planning on 1. Not leaving school so late 2. Eating before practice & 3. Being in TIME! for practice.
So this is today's entry for this kid's beautiful life...haha.

Sunday, September 4, 2011

Well this weekend has been great...rain half of the day Saturday plus a  2-week grounding its just been the perfect weekend!!!
Btw Mexico wins 1-0 vs Chile in today's friendly match in Barcelona, Spain.

A short reflection on sacrifice...and one of the best advices I have heard.

Are we really willing to sacrifice ourselves to do what we love to do? Are we really going to be whoever we want to be if we don't do anything to start being that person?
"3Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules."
2 Timothy 2:3-5 (ESV)
These verses explain my point. You can apply this to every aspect in life; you can even "translate" it literally to the person you want to be. I'm not trying to imply something you should do, but just take a moment and think about this.
Based on a reflection my dad gave me tonight. At first it seemed dumb to me but it got me thinking after a little while and now I think it's a great reflection.

The Next Generation are Today's Youth.

"Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, love, faith, and purity."
2 Timothy 4:12 ESV
